Forgot in which graphic novel it was, but in the story, spouse complaints to other spouse to quit showing her tits while at a restaurant, so she gets irked at being told what to do and what not to do, and in the public restaurants, does options.

Orienteering Clue sheet

The route in Google Pedometer has the trail to the second beer stop at about 7.5 km long.

Orienteering Hash instructions

This is a Orienteering Hash / Geo Hash. No flour is used to mark trail.

You are given a clear plastic Ziploc bag containing a topographic map and a clue sheet that you will carry with you during the hash run.

At hash start, you will be shown a map with two circles on it. This pair corresponds to stage 1 locations, indicated by the “1” in the left-most column in the clue sheet. For the sake of this example, the two locations of stage 1 are the south side of a building, and a re-entrant (also known as “draw” in military manuals). Using a pen, you will then copy and mark on your map those two circles.

At both of these two locations, you will find a red and a white ribbon. One of these ribbons will be marked with an “F". This means that this location is a “false”. The other ribbon will be marked with a "T": that is a “true” location. At the "true" location, you will find one map (don’t take it – leave it there) that you will read, look for two circles drawn on that map, and you will copy the circles with a red pen on your map. Those circles correspond for the next stage locations. Go to the next locations, and repeat this process until you find the beer. (also marked on the map is a red triangle: that is where you are now, aka current location).

There are 13 stages in all (the clue sheet in this example is obsolete, it only has 12…) There are two beer/beverage stops: one at the "true" location of stage 8, and a second one at the "true" location of stage 13. A beer stop can be a bar, house, vehicle, a clearing or wooded area (in the latter case, look around for a black garbage bag).

After that, the On-In is 1.8 km long (in an orienteering clue sheet, that number is on the bottom).

For those with a GPS: every map found at the “true” location will have on it the coordinates of the next stage’s two locations. You will have to key-in those coordinates in your GPS.

Remember: leave the map found at the “true” location for the other hashers that follow. Don’t take it. All the maps found at these locations have a red pen to be used to copy the next stage’s locations on your map, the map that is given to you at hash start.

notes:
At the first beer stop, you will not find a map for the next stage. Wait for the hare and the rest of the pack to arrive. Drink some beer/water, socialize, say stupid things. The hare will have a map with the next stage’s locations marked on it to read from.

Right after the first beer stop, there is an option for Super-Eagles to locate the location “E”.

Normal Eagles can continue to the locations in stage 9.

Turkeys can directly go to the locations in stage 11.

An eagle is someone that enjoys difficult trail and masochistic punishment.
A turkey is someone that laughs at eagles and simply wants an easier route to the beer.

options in the phillipines

MANILA, Philippines --A debate over breast-feeding vs. bottle feeding went to the top Philippine court Tuesday, with health officials arguing that aggressive advertising by U.S. and British companies has some women believing formula is better than their own milk.

With breast-feeding rates declining across Asia, the Philippine Health Department last year proposed regulations to strengthen its national milk code, which already bans formula companies from advertising products made for babies less than a year old.

New rules would extend that ban to cover ads for formula made for children up to 2 years old.

"We have seen a dramatic decrease of our breast-feeding rates. We have seen an increase of the profits and sale of infant formula companies," Health Department Undersecretary Alexander Padilla said. "They say (formula) makes geniuses out of babies, promotes love and affection, promotes family ... everything positive about infant milk formula."

The Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association of the Philippines has sued the Health Department, arguing only Congress has the power to change the regulations. The Supreme Court, on appeal, ordered a temporary halt to the stiffer rules, which also call for labeling that would include warnings that formula can be harmful if contaminated or inappropriately prepared.

Labels already include messages that breast milk is best for babies, but health officials want additional statements saying there is no substitute for breast milk and that formula should only be used under advice from a health worker.

Companies that violate the regulations could face fines or lose their license to operate for repeated violations. Individuals convicted of breaking the rules can be fined or face up to one year in jail.

On Tuesday, both sides presented further arguments. The attorney for the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association, Felicitas Aquino-Arroyo, told the justices the Health Department went beyond its authority.

She said U.S.-based formula makers Wyeth, Mead Johnson Nutritionals and Abbott Laboratories, along with British-based GlaxoSmithKline, stand to lose about $208 million because they will have to change labels, destroy milk products already in circulation and lose sales.

And she argued the advertising ban deprives women of information that would allow them to freely choose whether to use formula.

"The milk companies have been painted to look like corporate ogres, motivated by nothing more than corporate profits," she said after court adjourned. "That is not the issue in this case. We are not battling breast-feeding."

About a dozen mothers lined up outside the court to protest. They bared their chests, which had been spray-painted with slogans like "God's milk is life" and "Greedy milk companies."

Tracey Noe, a spokeswoman for North Chicago, Ill.-based Abbott, said the company believes breast milk is best for infants, but formula is a suitable alternative. "The real focus here is that infant formula is the only healthy, safe, physician-recommended alternative for moms who can't breast feed," she said.

Kevin Wiggins, a spokesman for Madison, N.J.-based Wyeth, said the Philippine ban overlooked the educational value of company promotions.

"We think that's important because it's a channel for education and awareness around infant formula. Our company, like the rest of the industry believes that breast milk is absolutely the best for babies ... But there are other requirements for older children and we think that our products provide a good balance for diet and nutrition," he said.

The row prompted the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to intervene. Its chief sent a letter to Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo urging her to re-examine the Health Department's plan or risk the country's "reputation as a stable and viable destination for investment."

Attorney Agnes Devanadera, representing the Health Department, argued that exceptions would be made for some ads.

"It is a matter of explaining to our people, for those who have forgotten, that there is no substitute for breast milk," she told the court. "We are not prohibiting the sale of milk substitutes, but we are prohibiting the advertisements."

The World Health Organization recommends mothers breast-feed exclusively for the first six months and continue providing breast milk along with complementary foods until age 2. Research has shown that babies given breast milk develop fewer respiratory and intestinal diseases, and those given formula have a greater chance of developing asthma or allergies, along with obesity. WHO estimates up to 1.45 million children die annually in poor countries because of low breast-feeding rates.

Exclusive breast-feeding rates during the first four to five months have dipped from 20 percent in 1998 to 16 percent in 2003 in the Philippines, where more women are working full time and juggling busy lifestyles like many women in the West.

But unlike some mothers in the United States and the European Union, who are moving toward breast-feeding in the first few months, many in developing Asian countries are abandoning the practice.

Thailand has the region's lowest exclusive breast-feeding rate during the first six months, with only 5.4 percent of mothers nursing. Vietnam's rate has fallen from 29 percent in 1998 to 15 percent in 2002, while Indonesia dropped from 42 percent in 1997 to 40 percent in 2002.

In another development, the Philippine government said Wednesday it has ordered the recall of millions of cans of baby formula made by Wyeth, saying the products may have been contaminated at a warehouse during a powerful typhoon last year.

Irene Serrano, a Wyeth spokeswoman in the Philippines, told The Associated Press the company would issue a statement later Wednesday after lawyers finish studying the recall order.

Cinqo de Mayo Hash

Cinco de Mayo Fool Moon Hash

May 3, 2007 - Hare: Moon

So, okay. I get it. I've been an absentee hasher lately and I am truly sorry for my neglect, but I have legitimate excuses. First, I had to go visit my parents for a weekend, then I had to go to Nemacolin (to recover from the weekend with my parents) where smelly lotions and oils were rubbed all over my body by people to whom it was okay to say "it's not okay for you to speak while you're doing this." I had a terrible cold the weekend Doppelwanker was in town. Finally, it was raining one weekend and I am water-soluble. So. There. There are my excuses. What's your excuse for missing Moon's Cinco de Mayo Fool Moon hash? The weather was too nice? The location too convenient? Final exams? As the hare you were too good for us? Whatever your excuse, you are forgiven.

This is going to be the first time I will be able to recount with accuracy the individual hashers present for this delightful spring evening hash. I can also recall the order in which we arrived. First, I was there. Noah was second to arrive wearing a very strange hat which I couldn't stop staring at. He was followed by out-of-towner 4FU from Hershey. Death Marchal arrived next. Manstruation appeared and last, and possibly least, Pound Puppy arrived. I had never met him before but, within minutes, he asked if he could see my tits, so I knew he was the type of man I like being around.

Manstruation had been given an envelope from Moon via Death Marchal. The envelope was sealed and top secret. Do you believe that nobody was curious enough (or at all) to open it? I began to salivate. It was, in part, because of the secrecy of the envelope, so I tore it open and what were its contents? Another envelope! How fucking clever! The envelope read "good for one free beer if returned unopened." We did not open it.

Finally, someone got bored and we were on trail. Being the only girl, slow, and generally lazy person there, I headed off to the South Side Works for a quick jog while looking for super cute shoes. Eventually, we all ended up back at Big Jim's where down downs were not led.

We mashed some tables together and Death Marchal got bitch-slapped by our waitress who was furious at his excitement to order a fish sandwich. She admonished him to "wait [his] turn."

I observed the men as they ate as though I were invisible. Here were the topics of conversation and this is not fiction: Sex and the City repeats/best moments; how old men's dicks are like silly putty; Japanese films translated into Chinese; slimming down in six weeks; "skinny jeans;" and how to please your man. Oops, I accidentally started copying the cover of my May issue of Glamour. In any event, their conversation was pretty fucking gay. Pretty fucking gay until somebody asked 4FU about his time in Vietnam.

This part scared the hell out of me and I'd rather not go through the entire story, but basically, 4FU lit a previously-smoked cigar stub and the moan of a morose cello began to wail in the background. Smoke curled around his face as he shifted his weight and began his tale. He spoke of mutilated babies and grand tapestries in a single breath. He reminisced about a soldier nicknamed Bones and that's what became of him. And her. He spoke of his girlfriend who smelled of lotus blossom water, whose smile warmed him to the core, and whom, after a solid year of spilled blood and war, softened only by her tender kisses, he abandoned. He never spoke to her again. A solitary tear rolled down his cheek and 4FU lowered his head and wept. Meanwhile, Noah who was not paying attention mentioned silly putty again and we had soon forgotten that 4FU was there at all.

Since I've been slaving over this newsletter for days (read: the past ten minutes), and I have not come up with a cute way to conclude, I'll just say, the end.

On On,
